A Guide To The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Ericsson have been making mobile phones for about as long as the industry has been around, but it wasn’t until the Sony-Ericsson brand was developed that they started to see real success in what has become an incredibly competitive market. Their partnership with the Japanese electronics company has developed a range of popular phones, for users who wanted a phone that was also a great camera and music player. But with the demand for smarter phones, how does the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 fair?

The first thing you can’t help but notice about the phone is it’s huge 4 inch screen. Clear and bright, it might seem a little excessive for a mobile display, but it makes the Xperia X10 one of the best phones to watch videos and play games on. It also come in to its own when you want to use another of the phone’s great features, the camera.

The Xperia X10 continues Sony Ericsson’s commitment to providing the best camera technology in their mobiles. At 8MP and with an LED flash and video capture, whatever it is you’re shooting, you’ll be able to get results that are better than some of the digital cameras on the market. The camera interface has been kept simple, but gives you the key settings you need to get the best shot every time.

Introducing The Motorola Milestone XT720

The Motorola Milestone XT720 is actually the newer version of the modified Motorola Milestone, which whilst an impressive feature-packed smartphone, wasn’t as well-received as hoped because of the slide out keyboard. Relaunched as the same feature-packed smartphone, but this time with more market-friendly touchscreen, and a few millimeters thinner, can the Milestone XT720 do better second time around?

The Motorola Milestone XT720 designers were obviously keen to improve on the old Milestone smartphone, without all the effort of a complete redesign. Removing the slide out keyboard allowed them to shed a few grams and millimeters, and just to give the new version it’s own identity, they also made a couple of other slight changes – so it looks and feels more like a new model. The result is a quality mobile phone, as you would expect from Motorola, although it might not be everyone’s idea of good looking.

The rather unique look to the phone is designed it seems, to highlight its camera credentials, and well it might blow its own trumpet – the new Milestone comes with an incredible 8 megapixel camera. But it’s not just the fact that this is larger than any of the other Android smartphones on the market that’s impressive. You also get face detection, image stabilization and multi-shot features, not to mention hi definition video capture.

What You Need To Know About The IPhone 4

Another chapter was recently added to the iPhone phenomenon, with the launch of Apple’s latest version, the iPhone 4. With a fresh look and a host of new and improved features designed to appeal to customers who have managed to resist the iPhone’s temptation so far, is Apple’s claim that the iPhone 4 is another leap forward, and the best iPhone yet, just marketing spin?

Whereas you’d be hard pushed to tell a 3G and a 3GS apart, the iPhone 4 has a completely new look. It’s flatter, thinner, and even die-hard 3GS fans would probably admit that it has a much more stylish, high-end look to it. But its looks are just the start, and the appearance of an extra camera on the front, and an LED flash for the main camera, give you an idea of the extra features that have been crammed into this smaller, better-looking iPhone.

The improvements continue with the iPhone 4’s amazing new display. By doubling the number of pixels, the high contrast screen makes everything appear so much brighter and clearer. Whether you are surfing on the web, reading emails, looking at photos, or watching high resolution video, the new display makes everything look great, even in bright sunlight.

A Review Of The Ooma Telo Handset

The Ooma Telo handset is a device that goes with the Ooma base station. Its purpose is for allowing customers of the Ooma voice over IP system to take their conversations in and around the home. Although not perfect, this gadget complements the system quite well.

Compared to other headsets, you will pay about the same price for the Ooma Telo handset. You may find coupons in some retailers that will get you below the $50 that the piece usually sells for. Sometimes Ooma has promotions where existing customers may give out coupons to others who do not already have the Ooma voice over IP system.

The Ooma panel has a lot of good reviews for being so easy to use. One way to sync the contacts in your phone with the online contacts list is to simply press the sync button on the headset. This feature is only available on the Ooma headset, and not others. You will save time where you would otherwise have to manually type in names and numbers on the number pad- a tedious chore!

Blackberry Bold Review

Most people know that a Blackberry is a business mobile, and while it’s not a criticism, it’s one of the reasons Blackberry have found it hard to really compete in the non-business smartphone market. Without abandoning their roots, they have made some improvements to the new Blackberry Bold, which will hopefully win it some more fans who see it as the ideal smartphone for work, and play.

The new Blackberry Bold still has the same layout and design as the previous version, and the majority of Blackberry’s mobiles, but a few pinches and tweaks have created a phone that is a little lighter and thinner. The polished materials and great build quality mean those who get on with the full QWERTY keyboard will get a very attractive phone, that looks and feels every bit like a high end smartphone. One of the benefits of the Bold being slightly wider (even after the recent reduction in its dimensions) is the decent sized display, with widescreen proportions. The resolution is high enough to make watching movies and viewing images enjoyable, and the text in emails, messages and on webpages is clear and crisp.

HTC Desire Review

Adopting the Android operating system has been one of the main reasons for HTC’s recent success, and has lead to successful smartphones like the Legend, Google’s Nexus One, and now the HTC Desire. Originally manufacturing smartphones for other companies to sell as their own, HTC’s own brand is becoming more and more popular. So what has their latest entry into the smartphone market got to offer consumers?

On the face of it, there doesn’t appear to be much difference between the Nexus One and the Desire. The Desire has a quality feel to it, even it it doesn’t benefit from the same unibody construction as the Nexus One. The touchscreen is a decent size and looks good, especially when you notice that it has both the traditional clickable buttons, as well as the additional ones located on the touchscreen. The optical trackball adds an air of sophistication without looking too delicate.

Not only a good size, the touchscreen is a 3.7 inch AMOLED display, delivering clear and bright, high resolution images. As well as quality, the Desire also has power, with 512 MB of RAM working with the 1GHz processor to make sure that whatever you are doing, the HTC Desire can cope without any loss of performance.

Is The Blackberry Curve Worth Buying?

When you mention the name Blackberry, most people think about suit wearing business types, who simply couldn’t live without their quirky looking mobile phone that keeps them in touch with emails and share prices 24/7. Blackberry knows it has a bit of a reputation as the business-only smartphone, but they have set their sights on taking Blackberrys to the masses, and with the increased demand for sophisticated smartphones, has the time come for the Blackberry Curve?

Blackberry phones are renowned for their full-sized keyboard and rather chunky looks, and the Curve is no different. Most people will either love or hate the keyboard layout and slightly wider feel of the Curve, although it doesn’t feel overly big, and its size does have the additional benefit of allowing space for one of the few ‘widescreen’ displays on the smartphone market. With a choice of colors to give your phone a little personality, Blackberry is keen to make the Curve a little less stuffy.

If you put the new Curve next to some of Blackberry’s business phones, you’d also notice a few other subtle differences. The chrome trim on the business versions has been replaced with rubber edges, and the trackball has become a track pad. Designed to cut costs as well as make the Curve a little more down to earth, the phone still looks and feels like a quality smartphone.

Nokia N8 – It’s Out And It’s Good!

For a name that’s as synonymous with mobile phones as Nokia, it’s sometimes hard to understand why they have never really been able to crack the smartphone market, at least not in the same way Apple and HTC have, and some of the other manufacturers are starting to. All this could be about to change however, as the Finnish mobile giant tries to make up for lost time and opportunities, with the launch of the N8. But does Nokia even know what it takes to make a competitive smartphone anymore, and if so, is the Nokia N8 it?

When you first see the N8 it’s difficult not to like it, for the fact that it looks good, but more because Nokia have actually made a very attractive mobile at last. There is a feeling of quality about it which is partly due to the scratch-resistant anodized aluminum shell that comes in a range of colors. The N8 is slimmer and less bulky than many of Nokia’s other smartphone attempts and wouldn’t look out of place next to an iPhone or the Nexus One. The lines are helped by the fact there’s no detachable battery cover, pointing to a more stable operating system that doesn’t need to have the battery removed to reset it, which is more good news.

3 Main Types Of IPhone Docks

3 Main Types of iPhone Docks

The first main, and probably least expensive type of iPhone docking station is a charging dock such as the Powermat Charging Dock for Apple iPhone and Apple iPod. This is actually a common element with all of these stations, as they will all charge your phone. These will be small plastic stands, that you simply place your phone on to charge.

One great thing about these types of iPhone docks is that you can just have your phone standing up next to you while it’s charging whether your at home asleep in your bed or sitting at your desk working in your office. Mainly, it can be a far more stylishly practical option for charging your phone than a normal wall outlet charger.

The next main type of docking station for iPhone is the sound station dock. These type of docks work similar to the charging docks, where you simply place your phone onto them, however with a huge key difference: they will play your music via the iPod function on your iPhone.
