Almost everyday, one of my precious items was stolen and this made me mad. No one knew who took my graduation ring. A while back, the pearl necklace my mother gave me got stolen as well. The thief seemed to have a special preference for my precious items.

As parents, we work hard so we can afford to give our children a lovely home in a safe neighborhood, but the irony has not escaped me: it is these locations, precisely, that are recurrent targets of robbery and other such crimes.

I was a completely peace loving person, hating to hurt anyone emotionally or physically. But my husband who worked for the military overseas insisted that I should have self defense products for protection.

I was the newly appointed principal in an inner city middle school. I was told that the school had been plagued with truancy, petty thefts, gang wars, vandalism, and other misbehavior. Because of this, it was difficult to hire and retain good teachers.

They called me an alarm buff at the office. They can not blame me, if I was, after I was mugged twice and my house was robbed three times.

We were a big family, and when all children got married, my widowed mother thought of redesigning the big house into a home for senior citizens.
