Advantages and Features of Mac Computers

Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard

Apple Mac’s operating system, Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, is faster, easier to use, and more reliable than Windows. It has built and maintained this position because Apple has based Leopard on a principle of constant innovation. You can therefore achieve more by doing less.

Apple has created the comprehensive applications that come with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard to give you a fully-rounded Mac computer, at home or in the office. Every Mac has iChat, for example. This enables you to have four-way video chats and conferences, and share the contents of your screen. You also receive iLife, software that beats anything a PC can offer for producing and enhancing music, photos, videos and DVDs.

Perhaps the most impressive part of Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, however, is Apple’s web browser, Safari. This is the fastest web browser on any platform in the world with features that are a pleasure to use. For instance, put a word in the “Find” box and Safari highlights the matching text and dims the surrounding page, making a search even quicker to complete.

Back to School With Laptops

“Back To School” is perhaps the most dreaded three word phrase in the English language for the majority of young people enjoying the last few days of summer. But for merchants and companies which cater to the student market, those three magic words are worth their weight in gold.

However, for many parents those words can produce mixed feelings, some look forward with guilty relief to having all that free time when they don’t have to worry about their children; while other parents are worried about outfitting and supplying their little geniuses with the necessary tools to make sure they’re not disadvantaged when it comes to learning.

In our computer obsessed world, one major part of that equation is making sure your school age child or even your college off-spring has a good quality laptop or netbook. More and more students are using these handy gadgets to great advantage to further their education. So much so, that many students, regardless of age, would feel lost in the classroom without a portable laptop computer of some kind.

Part II – What Do You Most Look for When Selecting a Business Cell Phone (e.g. Smart Phone, Pda)?

I asked this question of a large business networking community recently….. “What features/factors do you consider most important when choosing a business cell phone….and why?”

Here’s more of their answers for your education and enjoyment:

* “It’s going to sound dull, but…business benefit and value for money.

Assuming you’ve got a corporate tarriff sorted, then I’d be looking for ….

* economy

* connectivity – e.g. quad band so we can standardise on a couple of
handsets globally

* functionality – e.g. sync to work PC for Outlook etc.

* decent vendor support.

Pretty low down on the list are things like eye candy and mp3 playback – no iPhone for us unfortunately!”

* “When it comes to a “business cell phone” a lot depends upon what you will use it for, where you will use it and how often you will use it.

Get Window Anti Spyware to Protect your Pc

Are you getting request pop up advertisements when you are browsing the internet on your internet explorer browser? A mere pop up blocker though initially solve your problem but the root of the problem may a spyware that is residing on your computer’s program files. A spyware is a malicious program that is used to gather information of the user’s internet behaviour and then target advertisements that falls in his or her interest areas. It is a common practice among the online marketing firms to collect user statistics and interest areas of a particular user. So along with that pop up blocker to install a Window anti spyware program to remove spyware from the PC and get uninterrupted browsing.

Spywares are delivered to the victim’s computer hidden in freeware and shareware software that apparently seem to be innocent in nature. When the software is installed, the spyware also gets installed in the system without the knowledge of the user in most of the cases. There are some spyware that are also mentioned in the terms and conditions that you have to agree before installing a particular program. But as we hardly go through the terms in detailed we are not aware of the existence of the embedded spyware program. This is a technique used of the spyware distributor to legitimate the installation. The worst thing of the spyware is that in most cases the spyware is not detected by the general anti virus programs. You need to have a Window anti spyware with built in dedicated spyware detector to trace the spyware installation and remove them.

Notebooks, Netbooks and Laptops

Notebooks, netbooks, laptops, computers…these are all very familiar names. Aren’t they? But sometimes we wonder what exactly a notebook computer is or what is the difference between a laptop and a notebook?

Well where netbooks were born only a few years ago, notebooks and laptops have been around for decades. The term notebook was coined around year 1989 that describes emerging lines of smaller laptops and was about the size of a A4 paper notebook. Laptops on the other hand were usually wider, taller and thicker.

The first two to fit the original label were the NEC UltraLite notebooks and the Compaq LTE line of systems, with the IBM ThinkPad arriving a couple of years later to really popularize the form factor.

Notebooks in the initial years became very popular among businessmen and students due to their light weight and reduced size. But all these facilities came with a price that is weaker processing and computing power. Laptops were more powerful and made a better replacement of desktop computers.

Laptop or Pc – What Should Your Next Computer Be?

Copyright (c) 2009 Titus Hoskins

Before you can even decide what make of computer you want, whether it is a Dell, Mac or Hewlett Packard… you need to answer this burning question: will your next computer be a laptop or a desktop PC?

In order to answer this question you need to do your research. You need to familiarize yourself with both laptops and PCs. The reason that I say this is because as with all purchasing decisions there are pros and cons to whatever decision you make. In order to make the most informed decision as to which choice will be your next computer, you need to not only look into the advantages and disadvantages of each of them but you also need to make sure that you apply these pros and cons to your individual circumstances.

So what exactly are these pros and cons?

If you are looking into desktop PCs you will see that they are usually cheaper than laptops and for the money that you are paying you will get a lot more hardware/software. You get a faster computer at a lower price. That’s the main reason many gamers tend to opt for desktop PCs over laptops as they are more suited to gaming and audio/video applications. However, recent developments have meant that there are now laptops coming out that have been primarily designed for gamers. The performance gap is narrowing swiftly.

Smart Phones Are Us

Smart phones are mobile phones with computer-like features making them versatile to substitute a plethora of devices. For manufacturers they are about design and software, for users they are about functionality.

Smart phones are mobile phones with advanced features, generally combining standard communications capabilities with rich data applications and enhanced connectivity. As such, smart phones have as much in common with computers as they do with mobile phones. Smart phones often have fully enhanced applications that allow them to perform tasks that are above and beyond the functions of a regular mobile phone that us supplemented only by sandboxed applications. For the manufacturers such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony-Ericcson, Blackberry, Motorola, BenQ, LG and Apple, they are a question of design and software.

The IBM Simon was the first smart phone made commercially available in 1993. It was designed by IBM in collaboration with Bellsouth, introducing it first as a concept product in a computer trade show held in Las Vegas, Nevada, circa 1992. Simon combined the features of a mobile phone, a pager, a PDA and a fax machine, with the following specific applications: calendar, address book, world clock, calculator, notepad, e-mail, a sending and receiving fax, and games. Users could navigate through these applications by an on-screen “predictive” QWERTY keyboard.
